General Description
Wind turbine blades often face flow separation issues due to the highly adverse pressure gradients at the pressure recovery regions of their airfoil sections. The thick airfoil sections used at the blade roots are often equipped with highly cambered s-shaped trailing edge sections. The adverse pressure gradients generated by these trailing edge forms often lead to local pressure side flow separation, which causes noise increase and performance reduction.

SMART BLADE Turbulator Tapes

SMART BLADE develops together with industrial tape manufacturers custom turbulator tapes for various wind turbine blades. These have been extensively tested in wind tunnel measurements and have proven their effectiveness in the field. They are built from the highest quality composite tape materials in order to withstand the adverse environmental conditions of operation found on wind turbine blades in the field.
